LitecoinZ (LTZ) is an open-source cryptocurrency that holds the distinction of being the first in the world to integrate a Zcash fork into the main Bitcoin codebase. Regarded as a private bank owned by its users, LitecoinZ emerges as a fork of Zcash, which itself is a fork of Bitcoin. However, unlike Zcash, which diverged from the Bitcoin codebase with limited updates from Bitcoin's new features, LitecoinZ has been fully merged back into the Bitcoin codebase.
Utilizing the reference Bitcoin node known as Bitcoin Core, LitecoinZ's software node is built on this foundational code, ensuring full compatibility with software designed for Bitcoin integration. Users familiar with the graphical interface of Bitcoin Core will find a comfortable and familiar experience when using LitecoinZ.
In terms of privacy features, LitecoinZ retains all the strong anonymization capabilities of Zcash by implementing encrypted addresses known as z-addresses. These addresses make use of zk-SNARKs zero-knowledge proofs to anonymize the source, destination, and amount of transactions between two encrypted addresses. Just like Zcash, standard Bitcoin addresses are also available in LitecoinZ to cater to the high computational demands of encrypted addresses.
