Arbitrum is a cryptocurrency project that offers a suite of scaling solutions to achieve faster transaction speeds and lower fees compared to Ethereum, while maintaining the same level of security. Powered by Nitro, their proprietary blockchain network technology, Arbitrum One and Nova use a next-generation rollup architecture that provides 7x more throughput than Ethereum. Transactions are executed off-chain by Arbitrum validators, and the results are reported back in the form of an assertion. Validators post a stake, ensuring they have an incentive not to be deceptive, and any validator can challenge an assertion during a challenge window. Withdrawals from Arbitrum require confirmation but support pipelining to continue chain execution. The project was founded by Ed Felten, Steven Goldfeder, and Harry Kalodner in 2014.
